Spring means its time to go Racing! (and Car Show)

Designer Night at the Races™ May 8-10 presented by Lacks Enterprises are now open for registration.  Over 11 years and 60+ events, the teams at Lacks Wheel Trim, Lacks Trim Systems and Plastic Plate have supported Competition, Camaraderie and Charity!  To learn more about the events, please read on!

Desight Night at the Races #59-61 May 2017 Detroit

Last year, designers in Detroit and SoCal came together with our event partners to raise over $6,000!  This year I hope we can break that record as we have a new cancer charity. For 2017 we will be working to benefit The Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation to raise money for pediatric oncology.  Many of us have children, and even if you don’t, you have to agree that childhood cancer is a most terrible thing.  So hopefully we can all come together and do our part to help fight this devastating thing.CHMF 2color logo

There have 2 ways for you to make donations.  For the spring events we have a few charity t-shirts left – so make a $20 donation and this bad boy will be yours!  We will also have a link where you can donate online once you register.

Or, make a $5 donation and we will give you a ticket (5 for $20) and at the end of the night we will have a drawing.  1st prize each night will once again be a Free Second Gear Safety Class ($495 value) from the Bridgestone Winter Driving School.

I went last year and it is definitely a 5-star recommendation (read about it in 2 parts; Part 1 here and Part 2 here) .   Note! this class is fully transferable, so if you win and want to give it to your teenage son or daughter, significant other, grandmother or anyone else you think would benefit – you can.

SPECIAL NOTE.  The school is owned by The Center for Driving Sciences and Bridgestone is one of their sponsors.   So winning this event should not run afoul of any company entertainment policy because a) The Center for Driving Sciences is not a supplier to any car companies, and b) you will be making a contribution to charity in order to win it.

2nd prize will be one of these awesome Lego sets (VW Beetle, Camper, Ferrari F40, Mini Cooper or Caterham) and we always have something cool for a 3rd prize.

Finally, we wish to thank out generous partners who have done so much for the Design Community in Detroit – namely  Lacks Enterprises, and ABC Group.  Without , their awesome support we could not plan and organize these events.  And since I always forget to mention what we do at AACS, you can read more about us here and even get a free download of our report on Exterior Lighting and Interior Electronic Trends.

IMG_6487As usual, Spring also means its time for the Designer Car Show.  Bring something cool and we will award some silly prize to a car based on criteria we are not telling you about ahead of time.  Every car has an equal chance of winning.

IMG_5813Oh yeah, almost forgot.  Here is the schedule and the link to register!  And yes, we are well aware that Tuesday May 9th is the Wards Interior Conference.  So feel free to invite any of your design friends who are visiting from out of town.  We will always find room for people traveling to Detroit!
