10 Years of Competition, Camaraderie and Charity

Its time to celebrate 10 years of Designer Night at the Races™ presented by Lacks Enterprises – the Detroit Fall events are now open for registration.  Since the first event   the teams at Lacks Wheel Trim and Lacks Trim Systems have supported our drive to engage transportation designers in the fight against cancer.  We have a ton more exciting news so read on to see it all.

For the fall events we have returned with an event t-shirt to support the fight against cancer.  Make a $20 donation and this bad boy will be yours (note that the graphics team are still working on the final design so some details like color may be different).tshirt

As with the Spring events (where we raised more than $1,500) we are donating 100% of the proceeds from the shirt and raffle to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center!

Speaking of the raffle, 1st prize each night will once again be a Free Second Gear Safety Class ($495 value) from the Bridgestone Winter Driving School.  I went this past winter (Part 1 here and Part 2 here) and it is a 5-star recommendation.   Note! this class is fully transferable, so if you win and want to give it to your teenage son or daughter, significant other, grandmother or anyone else you think would benefit – you can.  SPECIAL NOTE.  The school is not owned by Bridgestone, it is a naming right like “Ford” Field.      So winning this event should not run afoul of any company entertainment policy because a) The Center for Driving Sciences is not a supplier to any car companies, and b) you will be making a contribution to charity in order to win it.

2nd prize will be one of these awesome Lego sets (Ferrari F40, Mini Cooper and Chaterham) and we will have something cool for a 3rd prize like we always do.

Finally, we wish to thank out generous partners who have done so much for the Design Community in Detroit – namely  Lacks Enterprises, and  Plastic Plate.  Without , their awesome support we could not plan and organize these events.  And since I always forget to mention what we do at AACS, you can read more about us here and even get a free download of our report on Lighting and Interior Electronic Trends.IMG_6962
