Yesterday we told you the best way to end your week at the North American International Auto Show – by joining the underground party and Middlecott Sketchbattle Experiment. Today we are going to tell you the proper way to start the week – at the MAIN Event.
While the MAIN EVENT is an private automotive industry specific, invitation only event – The Supplier Blog has the lowdown and the special password that lets you register on their site (password at the end). So exactly what is the MAIN EVENT? Read on to find out more…..
The MAIN Event recognizes and honors automotive industry executives, showcases student’s automotive-design work, and features “treads and threads” – – a fashion show of automotive-inspired garments by Detroit fashion designers (some garments are
made of automotive materials).
Last year Elon Musk was honored, this year Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Nissan, Chairman and CEO of Renault and also Chairman of Renault-Nissan Alliance Board, will be honoired as the event’s “Global Industry Executive of the Year”; and Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director as the “Industry Innovator of the Year”.
Additionally, current students at Lawrence Technological University will be awarded the “Next Generation of Design Innovation” by Dassault Systèmes and the “Coach Builder Design” awarded by SRG Global. In addition to insightful presentations from OEM and industry leaders, guests will enjoy the MAIN Event’s annual fashion show, in conjunction with Detroit Fashion Week. The designer showcase includes: Vincentta by Deanna Ansara, Ashley Harris, Wooden Hangers, and Our Own by Lauren Aitch. The show also features pieces constructed from automotive materials and components.
